About the Award
The River Rapids Intelligence in Chip Research Awards celebrates outstanding contributions in the field of memristors, emerging memory devices, circuits, and intelligent computing systems. In alignment with the mission of the River Rapids Series on Intelligence in Chips, this annual award seeks to spotlight groundbreaking research and emerging thought leaders whose work has expanded the boundaries of how we understand and apply next-generation chip-based intelligence.
These awards recognize individuals across different career stages—PhD Scholars, Postdoctoral Fellows, and Faculty—whose contributions offer both theoretical depth and practical impact in areas including (but not limited to):
- Memristor Fundamentals
- Neural and Cellular Neural Networks
- Memristor Array Computing
- Quantum AI Computing
- Efficient Reconfigurable Computing
- Bioinspired Circuits and Systems
- Interdisciplinary Innovations
- Practical Applications and Implementations
- Emerging Trends in Nanoelectronics and Memory Systems
Award Categories
Categories
- PhD Scholar Award
- Early-Career Faculty Award (Post-doc, Assistant/Associate Professors or equivalent)
- Senior Faculty Lifetime Achievement Award (Professors or equivalent)
Awardees receive:
- A formal certificate of recognition
- An honorarium of $500 (PhD Scholar Award), $1000 (Early-Career Faculty Award), $1000 (Senior Faculty Lifetime Achievement Award) and digital badge for academic and professional use
- Publication of a 50–75 page contribution in the River Rapids Series on Intelligence in Chips
Nomination Requirements
Each nominee must submit:
- A 50–75 page original contribution (book chapter or extended essay) demonstrating innovative research and insight, suitable for publication in the River Rapids Series. Irrespective of the award, the contributions will be published based on review.
- A CV (no more than 4 pages).
- A brief self-nomination letter (1–2 pages) outlining:
- Key contributions to the field
- Relevance to the mission of the series
- Career stage and eligibility for specific category
- Any hardships and circumstance in which research was done
- Optional: Letters of support (maximum of 2)
Self-nominations are encouraged.

- Contribution to the scientific and educational community
